Threshold Switching in Phase-Change Materials by Picosecond Electric Fields

Abstract

Amorphous chalcogenides undergo a sharp increase in conductivity upon application of a strong electric field, called threshold switching. Here, we show evidence for threshold switching driven by picosecond terahertz-frequency electric field pulses.
