Abstract

The primary photoinduced processes of distorted square-pyramidal ferracyclobutadiene tricarbonyl have been studied in liquid acetonitrile solution under ambient conditions using femtosecond UV-pump mid-infrared-probe spectroscopy. The dynamics are governed by the dissociation of an equatorial CO ligand on a time scales of a few picoseconds followed by the filling of the resultant vacancy by a solvent molecule.
