Sub-10-fs Population Inversion in Air Driven by Few-cycle Laser Pulses

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrated the generation of sub-10-fs population inversion in N2+ induced by few-cycle intense laser pulses, and theoretically clarified that the ultrafast population inversion results from the post-ionization dynamics through multiple states coupling.
