Observation of the Dark State in Ruthenium Complexes Using Femtosecond Infrared Vibrational Spectroscopy

Abstract

We comprehensively studied the excited states of prototypical ruthenium complexes using time-resolved infrared vibrational spectroscopy and found a band assigned to the dark 3MC (metal centered) state, which plays an important role for their photofunctions.
