Mirrorless Backward SRS in Free-Space Gas Driven by Filament-Initiated UV Laser

Abstract

Stimulated Raman scattering combined with ASE lasing from nitrogen molecules in a femtosecond filament is shown to provide a highly directional chemical-bond-sensitive coherent readout in the direction opposite to that of the driver laser beams.
