Abstract

Ultrafast energy transfer dynamics in photosynthetic antennas were investigated by femtosecond pump-probe measurements. Photo-excited carotenoids with short-polyene chains efficiently transfer energy to bacteriochlorophylls, while the energy rapidly dissipates to carotenoids in antennas containing longer carotenoids.
