Femtosecond UV Studies of Relaxation Processes in Cytochrome C

Abstract

UV femtosecond fluorescence and transient-absorption studies of ferric and ferrous cytochrome C are presented. We characterize their photocycles, which are described in terms of a model based on electron metal-to-heme back-donation from occupied metal d orbitals.
