Coherent Acoustic Phonons in Highly Oriented Bismuth Films Monitored by Femtosecond Electron Diffraction

Abstract

Femtosecond electron diffraction opens new vistas for determining elastic properties at nanoscale. We report on the detection of coherent acoustic phonons generated via fs laser photoexcitation in ultrathin (110)-highly oriented films of Bismuth.
