Abstract
Cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers are the major photoproducts formed when DNA is exposed to UV light. Femtosecond time-resolved vibrational spectroscopy shows that thymine dimers are formed in thymidine oligonucleotides < 20 ps after photoexcitation.
