Coherent Phonons in the Zone-Boundary Region of Solid Ar doped with Cl2

Abstract

We observed coherent zone-boundary phonons of solid Ar doped with Cl2 in pumpprobe spectra. Comparison with diatomics-in-molecules simulation shows that specific motions of Ar atoms in the (100) plane are responsible for the observed oscillations.
