Abstract

The third-order optical response of the coupled amide I and III modes of NMA is calculated for varying degrees of correlation between mode frequency fluctuations. The kI=-k1+k2+k3 are strongly affected by the correlations between the two fundamental and combination frequency fluctuations. The lineshaps show a distinct signature of anti-correlation, suggesting correlated hydrogen bonding dynamics on carbonyl oxygen site and the amide hydrogen site.
