Ultrafast intermolecular transfer of vibrational excitations in liquid water

Abstract

Using femtosecond vibrational pump-probe spectroscopy, we find that extremely fast resonant intermolecular transfer of the OH stretch excitation occurs in liquid water, with a characteristic transfer time of less than 100 femtoseconds.
