Abstract

A low-cost long-period grating (LPG) sensor using a VCSEL and a photodiode was developed. LPGs with controlled wavelengths were fabricated by tilted-mask method. Temperature sensing with reduction in error was demonstrated using a pigtailed VCSEL.
