Abstract
An effective acid sensor utilising liquid-core optical fibre technology is designed and tested. The sensor is based on acidification of a porphyrin solution within the core, which acts as a micro-cell reactor. Changes in the spectral signature upon acidification are detected. Diffusion rate at the liquid interface is the limitation in the practicality of this sensor, and solutions to allow for improvements are discussed.
