Abstract

We introduce a new approximate method for broadband phase retrieval and apply it to an ultra-broadband (1-5 μm, 133% fractional bandwidth) phase retrieval problem modeled after wavefront sensing with the James Webb Space Telescope’s Fine Guidance Sensor. We show that it yields results of comparable quality to the traditional broadband phase retrieval algorithm with a 270× improvement in runtime performance.
