High-speed (800 ps) and ultra-long-period (0.8 sec) characterization of laser phase noise by heterodyne detection with FPGA-implemented data acquisition

Abstract

We show ultra-long-period high-speed characterization of laser phase noise. With coherent reception followed by FPGA-implemented data acquisition, broadband (over 100MHz) FM noise spectrum and ultra-long-term (0.8sec) field spectrogram are measured.
