Abstract

We report a real-time 256/64/16QAM-encoded optical OFDM transmitter with high spectral efficiency of 5.78bit/s/Hz. The adaptively modulated OFDM signal transmission over 50km SSMF is achieved with a negligible power penalty compare to optical back-to-back case.
