Abstract
We numerically investigate and demonstrate a fiber-optic probe with subwavelength metallic nanostructures on the fiber-end facet for refractive index sensors. Nanostructures such as deep metallic 1D or 2D gratings in metallic layer are analyzed and utilized for inducing the plasmonic absorption in infrared region. Fiber-optic probe based sensor shows a resonance curve with the sensitivity of 1000 nm/RIU in the reflection spectrum.
