Slotted Photonic Crystal Devices: Slow Light and Applications

Abstract

Slotted photonic crystal geometries permit the confinement of light in very small air volumes. Tailoring their dispersion, we demonstrate and discuss slow light operation and two applications, a modulator for telecommunications and a chemical sensor.
