Slow-Light Enhanced Second Harmonic Generation in a Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystal

Abstract

We obtain greatly enhanced conversion efficiencies of second harmonic generation by achieving small group velocity at phasematch in a two-dimensional quadratically nonlinear photonic crystal. The theoretically proposed efficiency is confirmed with rigorous finite-difference time-domain calculations.
