Slow Light with Persistent Spectral Hole Burning

Abstract

We consider short pulse propagating in a thin slab waveguide of optically dense persistent hole burning medium. Considerable slowing of group velocity occurs if narrow hole is created in advance in the inhomogeneous absorption spectrum.
