Superprism phenomena in photonic crystals

Abstract

"Superprism phenomenon" which is the dispersion of light 500 times stronger than the dispersion in conventional prisms, was demonstrated in photonic crystals (PCs) (Fig. 1). A novel concept called "photonic crystalline optics" is needed to interpret these phenomena.
