Phase-sensitive Amplification in Metastable Helium

Abstract

We demonstrate phase-sensitive amplification based on coherent population oscillations in metastable helium with a maximum gain of more than 6. The measured minimum gain corresponds to its ideal value, proving that we have a perfect squeezer.
