Generating Phonon Pairs with Cavity Optomechanics

Abstract

We demonstrate the generation of classically correlated phonon pairs, for which two mechanical modes in a silica microsphere are coupled to a common optical mode via optomechanical parametric amplification and state-transfer processes, respectively.
