Carrier multiplication in lead selenide nanorods probed with a superconducting nanowire single photon detector

Abstract

We study carrier multiplication in colloidal nanocrystals with novel superconducting nanowire single photon detectors. The PbSe nanorods show a ~80% increase in the multiexciton yield compared to spherical nanocrystals of the same band-gap energy.
