Abstract

Ultrafast photoinduced changes of crystal structure and charge distributions in potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP), KH2PO4, are mapped by femtosecond x-ray powder diffraction. The formation of HPO4 and H3PO4 defects is revealed.
