Slow light in nonlinear fibre Bragg gratings

Abstract

We demonstrate slow light by exciting gap solitons in a 10 cm apodized fibre Bragg grating. Propagation at 0.23 c/n with little pulse distortion, corresponding to a delay of over 1.6 ns, is observed.
