Two alternative approaches to broadband visible light generation with mode-locked Erbium fiber lasers

Abstract

We compare two methods for the generation of light pulses across the visible spectral band starting from a 1.55 μm fiber laser. Particular advantages of either technique are discussed with respect to applications in frequency metrology and microscopy.
