Maximizing On-axis Coupling Efficiency between Single Mode Fiber and Multimode Specialty Fibers Using Multi-Mode Interference

Abstract

Novel technique to optimize on-axis coupling between single mode fiber and multimode specialty fibers using an intermediate segment of step index multimode fiber is presented. Coupling efficiency of 93% is achieved for optimum fiber parameters.
