Disorder-induced optical scattering loss in planar photonic crystal waveguides: Theory and experiment

Abstract

We directly compare a photon Green function theory of extrinsic optical scattering loss in planar-photonic-crystal waveguides with state-of-the-art measurements. The calculations successfully explain the strongly dispersive disorder-induced loss measurements over broadband frequencies.
