A wavelength selective switch with flat passband using a free-space grating and MEMS phase-shifters

Abstract

We report on a 2×2 wavelength selective switch with 6.4dB insertion loss and >25dB extinction ratio. The folded Mach-Zehnder geometry, with a free-space grating and MEMS phase-shifters, enables fast independent control of multiple spectral regions.
