Super-poissonian intensity fluctuations and correlations between pump and probe fields in electromagnetically induced transparency

Abstract

We measured intensity fluctuations of pump and probe beams after interaction whit Rb atoms in Electromagnetically Induced Transparency[1]. Both fields presente super-poissonian statistics and become correlated in intensity, in qualitative agreement with theoretical predictions. The measured correlation is a first step towards the observation of macroscopic entanglement in EIT.
