Engineering quantum phases of cold atoms

Abstract

We will discuss how cold atoms in optical lattices could be used for probing physics of quantum phase transitions. Examples include probing the origin of high temperature superconductivity, controlling quantum magnetic phenomena and "engineering" exotic quantum phases.
