Generation of two-qubit polarization maximally entangled mixed states

Abstract

Using Type-I down-conversion, we extend the boundaries of experimentally accessible two-qubit polarization states. Specifically, we create and characterize maximally entangled mixed states that lie above the Werner state boundary in the tangle-entropy plane.
