Optical Trapping and Raman Spectroscopy of Single Living Cells and Single Organelles

Abstract

We demonstrate that single living cells and single organelles within a cell can be manipulated with a near-infrared beam and Raman spectra of the trapped particles can be collected to offer biochemical composition for rapid identification of microorganisms and real-time analysis.
