Abstract
Efficient waveguiding by 2D photonic crystal (PC) waveguides has been demonstrated both theoretically and experimentally for straight waveguides, bends and single microcavities.1,2,3 We demonstrate that resonant cavities can be obtained by inserting proper defects along a one-missing-row PC waveguide. These defects act as partial reflectors, being the reflectivity strongly dependent on the diameter d< of the defects and slightly on the position along the PC waveguide.
