Abstract

1. Introduction Two-dimensional photonic crystals (PCs) are promising candidates for the realization of ultrasmall photonic circuits integrating miniature sources with passive elements. Here we report on two such structures: the “photon gun” where photons are launched directly from the cavity into the fundamental mode of a channel waveguide and the coupled-cavity waveguide consisting in a series of coupled cavities.
