Towards optimal generation and delivery of 1 fs pulses in dispersive media

Abstract

We discuss pump-probe scheme of generating and delivering single pulses as short as 1 fs onto the target, through known dispersive elements in the optical setup. Since short pulses have very broad spectrum, dispersion of the elements in an optical setup may have a dramatic (or even devastating) effect.
