From Photonic dots to crystals

Abstract

Similarly to the strong changes of the electronic properties in low dimensional systems like quantum well, wires or dots, pronounced dimensionality dependences are expected for photons, if a material is patterned in one or more dimensions on the length scale of the light wavelength.
