Abstract

Anti-Stokes photoluminescence cooling of a Yb3+-doped ZBLANP optical fiber has been accomplished by optical pumping at 1015 nm. The temperature drop, as determined by temperature-dependent changes in the fluorescence spectrum, is 65 K.
