Guiding of metastable helium atoms through hollow optical fibres

Abstract

Atom guiding through hollow optical fibres has been achieved previously using dipole light forces.'-2 Both blue and red detuned laser frequencies have been employed to create repulsive and attractive forces for light introduced into the fibre and the hole respectively.
