Abstract

Heberle et al. demonstrated the use of phase-controlled optical pulse pairs to populate coherently and then to depopulate a quantum well (QW) with excitons on a 100-fs time-scale.1 In these experiments, one uses a pair of time-delayed identical pulses but with various relative phase shifts.
