Bose-Einstein condensation in an ultracold gas

Abstract

We have observed Bose-Einstein condensation in a dilute vapor of rubidium atoms cooled to below 100 nanoKelvin. This was achieved by laser cooling and trapping followed by magnetic trapping and evaporative cooling.
