Abstract

We measure the spectral and temporal characteristics for 0.6-ps and 3,6-ps pulses propagating through a semiconductor laser amplifier (SLA) near 1550 nm. In addition to the spectral shifts reported,1 we observe strong temporal distortions for 0.6-ps pulses, which may be caused by an interplay between gain displex dynamics that are not fully understood.
