Abstract

The development of all-optical switches based on organic polymers is of great interest in photonics. An effective nonlinear n2 coefficient may be obtained by cascading of the second-order nonlinear susceptibility.1,2 A large χ(2)(2ω; ω, ω) effect and quasi-phase-matching is achieved in polymeric waveguides by a spatially periodical electric poling field in direction of light propagation z.
