Abstract
We present a new technique for measuring wave-packet dimensions and dynamics. It uses a weak pump pulse to create a vibrational wave packet in I2 and a delayed intense femtosecond pulse to rapidly ionize the molecule to a highly charged state. We follow the dynamic of the wave packet by measuring the kinetic energy release from the resulting Coulomb explosion as a function of the pump-probe delay.
