Abstract

Various processes can lead to near-infrared (NIR) to visible (VIS) upconversion. The knowledge of their relative efficiency is an important parameter in optimizing a desired upconversion laser pumping scheme. Cs3Lu2Br9:1%Er3+ is an ideal system to study NIR-to-VIS upconversion dynamics1: It is one of a family of dimer compounds Cs3Lu2X9:Er3+ (X = Cl, Br, I) which show intense VIS upconversion luminescence when excited in the NIR.2
