Abstract

Recently there has been tremendous interest in analogs to atom -cavity interactions carried out in monolithic-semiconductor- quantum-well microcavities.1-3 These papers have realized exciton -microcavity field interactions that may be treated as linear coupled harmonic oscillators, including the so-called vacuum Rabi splitting and oscillatory (or reversible) spontaneous emission. In this work we realize a system of quantum nonlinear harmonic oscillators by exciting a single-quantum-well microcavity to high exciton density.
