Abstract

Phthalocyanines have received a large amount of attention because of their potential for nonlinear optical applications.1-4 However, little is known about the origin of their nonlinear optical response. Because they belong to a family of two-dimensional centrosymmetric organic molecules with extensively delocalized conjugated π-electrons, one can predict the existence and the crucial role of two-photon states in their nonlinear optical response.5
