Abstract
Recently, we have shown that the twin beams generated from a traveling-wave nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier (NOPA) can produce not only a squeezed-vacuum state but also a spaliotemporally matched local oscillator (LO) for the detection of squeezing.1 In this paper we report on the experimental evaluation of such an LO for the measurement of squeezing produced by the NOPA. In our experiment the squeezing limitation predicted by LaPorta and Slusher2 is dearly circumvented. We also provide a method for analyzing the spatial effects in traveling-wave squeezed-state generation.
